Thank for all the insight. IIRC, BestData had a USB modem that works with System 8 to 9 and another USB modem that works with System 9 or higher. Sounds like somthing with the Mac USB version. As mentioned USB overdrive doesn't work with modems.
I can't seem to find any info about System 8.6 having enough USB support for this USB modem :-( Thanks for the help.
