Go to the Epson site, I believe the under Support (or Downloads) area do a
search for the Printer type (example: Color Stylus 820 drivers) and he
should find the classic driver and assorted upgrades.

Well, I have done this using my own iMac which can boot into OS 9. I downloaded the Installer file for the Epson Stylus 825, decompressed it and ran the Installer.

The problem is that it is not just a single driver file that one can simply pop into the OS 9 Extensions folder like some of the old Apple printer drivers. The Epson Installer first of all does not provide you with an Installation Report detailing all the files it has added and where they are. I was nevertheless able to identify two folders and five files which it definitely adds to the OS 9 System Folder, some in the Extensions folder and others in the Preferences folder.

Now, all this works fine when you are booted in OS 9, but my friend's eMac cannot be booted in OS 9 - it can only run OS 9 applications in Classic mode under OS X.

So a question which I have posed to my friend is what happens if he puts the Epson Installer on his OS X desktop and double-clicks it. I think it should invoke the Classic mode and launch, but the big question is whether or not it will treat the non-bootable System 9 folder the same way it does on machines which are booted under OS 9. I am not sure whether he actually has already tried to do this and may have found it did not work.

The other alternative, for him, is to run the Epson Installer on his wife's older iMac which is running under OS 9, then set up file sharing between that iMac and his eMac, and drag and drop ALL the files which we have been able to identify having been installed by the Epson Installer into the corresponding locations in his eMac's OS 9 folder. Since I cannot absolutely guarantee that I have identified all of those files, we are not absolutely sure this will work.

Plan B will simply be to try to get his eMac hooked up to some other printer, like an old Apple LaserWriter, for which he DOES have drivers in his System 9 folder, and do the print job that way.

Quite interesting.
