I'm fairly certain that the RAM in your iMac will run at 100 MHz ONLY. PC100 is a perfect fit. PC133 will run at 133 MHz in other computers, but in your iMac it will only run at 100 MHz. Different RAM does not run at different speeds in your computer, it either runs at 100 MHz (PC100 or 133) or it doesn't run at all (anything slower than PC100.) I'm not 100% sure on this, but I have been on this list for many years and I have NEVER heard of different RAM speed having an effect on the speed of the computer, or of people upgrading to faster RAM to get increased performance. I'm sure someone will politely correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps your potential buyer was trying to tell you that that fast RAM was going to waste running 33 MHz slower than it was rated for in your iMac, and THAT was why he should have it? It could also be that he is more knowledgeable about PCs than Macs.
