I agree with Bruce, it is dying.
Buy a new hdd, don't bother trying to repair them, I doubt a service centre could let alone the end user.
Its a bit like this, I've been looking at P4 chips on ebay for a new Linux computer, and I don't understand why people sell faulty ones?! Phil's comment was "Dan, you're used to working at die level, why don't you repair it? ;-)"
