Does anything more than just a dial and connect happen? e.g. Is it 
perhaps the Software Update application periodically wanting to connect 
with Apple to determine if you have any software updates outstanding? 
(Not likely with OS 9.2.2 but perhaps your Software Update system is 
set to automatically check once a week or once a month.)

Just a thought.
