No, that's not the problem. There aren't any "rogue viruses" or "trojans" for the Mac.*
*before someone points out to me the one news item from a couple weeks ago, I would point out right back that it was a) theoretical (not seen in the wild), b) already addressed by the 10.3.4 Security Updates, and c) did not dial out.
The problem is most likely that the OP has their date/time panel set to automatically update itself, which of course it has to do by dialing out to get the correct time periodically. Turn that off and all will be well.
