Thanks Michael, I'll try that; although I'm preety sure it's an extension
conflict, as the computer shuts down fine when only using the base
extensions.

How would you replace the Finder Prefs if they are corrupted?  I've tried
reinstalling the OS9.2.2 update and the problem has persisted.
