No, it is not a riddle, just something I am exploring. I am a migrant
from the PC box (linux, in my case), and I used a white box system
(meaning, home built), whereas I tranfered a Sony CDRW 40x/12x/48x from
the tower to a usb enclosure (ADS, www.adstech.com) just to see what
would happen.

Surprise to end all surprise, made me fonder of my iMac Rev D to boot,
it mount any cd I place within, erase a cdrw, prepares a cdrw, but falls
flat in the writing department.

That's because USB 1.1 is too slow to handle anything above 2x writing reliably. The iMac doesn't have USB 2 so falls back to USB 1.1.

Move the CDRW into a Firewire case (does your Rev. D have FW? I've forgotten) and you can burn at full speed.

"These people who set about legalizing inhumane behavior on behalf of a president on whom they confer absolute power to order it at will are as shallow and evil as the cliche spouting president who demanded it. The slippery slope to totalitarianism started in a conference room where coffee and donuts and microsoft power point presentations on torture and pain were on the agenda one morning."
