I have a friend who is having a problem connecting to the Paypal site, when he tries to access the site he gets an error message , which says "Security Failure. Data Decryption Error." He has an iMac 350 mHz G3, running OS 9.0.4 with IE 5. He said that Paypal suggested clearing his cache & resetting security parameters, he even changed his security setting to low hoping this would somehow help but it had no effect. A Paypal representative told him that Microsoft will no longer be making Internet Explorer for the Mac and that he will need to think about switching browsers.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Yes. IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON. OS X has been out for four years now. Your friend has had all that time to save up $599 or so for an eMac.
For OS X, I find that Mozilla, Safari, Camino, Firefox, Opera -- in short all the current browsers -- have no problem with Paypal and security.
At the very, very least, your friend should upgrade to 9.1 if not 9.2.2 -- it's free (I believe) and might possibly solve his problem for a while at least (I assume he's already updated to the last version of IE for Mac -- if so, also give Netscape or WamCom's version of Mozilla 1.3 a try).
