Has anyone ever attempted to connect a parallel printer to a Mac via a USB
to Parallel adapter? Can it work? I was just given a FREE Canon
Fax/Scan/Printer, and I'd love to be able to use it with the iMac.

It's possible to get a Parallel printer to work using an adapter, but not a All-In-One type contraption as you've described. Those require drivers written for the Mac OS in order to use the various functions, and of course Canon wouldn't have written a Mac driver for a AIO unit that can only be connected to PCs.

You might be able to get it to work as a printer, however. If you're running OS X, you can see if Gimp-Print has the driver you require.
