Hi Art,

Alas, that's an investment that I've yet to make. I did have my machine go
down when the trip switch in our house went twice in short order (once while
the iMac was asleep and then again while it was automatically restarting)
causing some HD errors that I've yet to fix by cloning to my external HD,
reformatting the internal HD and cloning back. This might have precipitated
my troubles with AirPort, but I doubt it since there appear to be many of us
with the same problem on Apple's discussion boards.

I'm sure I read of a fix for the Finder not remembering windows' preferences
too, but I've since lost it.

Your point is worth making though, that these _are_ isolated issues and
possibly not related to Panther on a G3 iMac in general. (That said, I do
repair permissions before/after every upgrade and always use combo updaters,
so I would've hoped to avoid pretty much any problems. Still, there's no
such thing as failsafe/foolproof...)
