I've got a 600Mhz Snow iMac and after a while there's quite a bit of heat
generated through the top. As I understand it, this is OK - the slot-
loading iMacs have no fan and rely on "convection cooling" (is that the
right term?), like the Cube.

I can't help too much regarding the RAM - the machine's always cooled
down before I've opened the back. I doubt it's as hot as the RAM in my
old Dell laptop gets!
