What kind of cable? Which settings? How do you get one computer to look like a hard drive on another computer's desktop. This may be simple to you but I've never done it. We connected them with ethernet, and they didn't show up on each other's drives. I had to copy from iMac to external, then external to Powerbook. There is a simpler way, I'm sure, but I just don't know it. I'd like this to be a one-step operation rather than a two-step operation, since I need to do it daily.

Thanks,
Claire

plug your powerbook into your imac and start moving whatever you want
off the powerbook. Your powerbook can act like a giant firewire HD.

I have an iMac DV 400, a new Powerbook, and an external Firewire HD. I
would like to transfer some stuff to the Powerbook. Using my digital
camera, I transferred all my photos. Using iSync, I transferred
Address Book info (successfully) and iCal (not so successfully). I
would like to transfer all of my e-mail, with mailboxes. I'd also like
to transfer Safari bookmarks. I guess iSync transferred my Bookmarks
Bar (I didn't). Would someone who has already done it, successfully,
tell the rest of us how you did it? I want to use my Powerbook as my
main computer but so much current stuff is on my iMac. Both are on
10.3.4.

Thanks for your input,
Claire
