If you don't like it, don't buy it! Get a G5 tower.

I can't afford the tower. As much as I would LOVE to have one. I liked the old flat panel iMac, but I want a G5 chip... so I'll settle for the iPod on steroids instead.

Yeah, I think it's pretty indisputable that the new iMac is a good value for money when you consider that the 20" Cinema Display ALONE costs $1299, whereas the 20" iMac costs $600 more and includes so much.


Yes, compared to the dual 1.8GHz G5 you are giving up some speed (buswise), PCI slots and a second processor, but apart from that I can't, in these initial specs, see all that much that a typical user (not power-video-audio-person, mind you) would be giving up, yet the 20" iMac costs about HALF what a dual 1.8 with 20" Cinema Display would cost.

If only I could figure out a way to fit that unit into my custom-made computer desk ... sigh ...
