The iMac could not pivot 90 degrees because the cooling system depends on air flow that will be determined in part by where the heat-producing parts are. It is far more complicated than a monitor.
Many hard drives these days work in more than one position; in any event, if rotated such that it remains in the same plane (which is what would happen when rotating the iMac from Vertical to a horizontal screen), there would be very little or no effect on the drive. So the hard drive could be placed where rotating it would not be a big problem, but the other issues will remain. -- Bruce ____________________________________________________ B R U C E K. klutch-at-erols.com > From: Talking Hand <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: iMac List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Wed, 01 Sep 2004 20:48:34 +0000 > To: iMac List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: New iMac revealed > It would be way cool if they made the screen pivot 90 degrees as well, and > if there was a feature to change the view option 90 degrees -- you could > type documents, view web pages, etc., vertically, instead of using the often > unwieldy horizontal method. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
