Sleep is when the computer goes completely silent and just the power light pulses on and off. If the fan is still on and the power light is not pulsing then its not asleep, OS X can turn off the display and spin down the hard drives after a set time.
Is there any way of getting the Mac to "SLEEP" automatically ?
