They are the same thing.

Except for me the fan doesn't stop when just leaving the Mac to fall asleep, whereas it does when I activly put it to sleep... ---
Most people have their monitors set to either dim or run a screensaver after, say, 10-15 minutes of inactivity, and their hard drives to spin down after, say, 30 minutes of inactivity.

How/where do you set the time for the harddisks to spin down ???

I just have an option for them to spin down whenever posible...
