The problem is ENTIRELY due to the jumpers and has NOTHING to do with CCC. I wish you wouldn't blame CCC when it's NOT the problem, this scares people off using the program when in fact it works flawlessly. From: "Michael Shaw" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
The whole Carbon Copy Cloner thing has left me with more questions than answers.
Which proves beyond all doubt that the Carbon Copy Cloner program did it's thing PERFECTLY.After running CCC The external FW drive booted the iMac perfectly from BOTH cloned partitions, OSX10.2.8 and OS9.1
Actually, it doesn't matter one way or the other. The Combo Drive can be the master, and the HD can be the slave. What's important is that they are not both set for the SAME id. If they are, then you get EXACTLY the symptoms you're describing (one device disappears and cannot be seen even though it checks out OK).1/ There is only ONE ATA cable for the ATAPI DVD drive and the ATA hard drive
2/ The manual says when replacing the optical drive MAKE SURE that the DVD/CD drive is set as a Slave.
What I can't figure out is why OS X boots fine from it (which would indicate that the HD is jumpered correctly) but not from OS 9.1. Does Classic work okay?
This doesn't make sense. If you boot the machine in OSX, obviously it DOES see the hard drive. So why not just run the utility disks from there?Mind you, in OSX The computer runs GREAT !
But it is no longer possible to install any systems or run any utilities
on the hard drive because utility and System install disks can't see the
hard drive and it is not possible to boot off the OS9.1 partition
because even though the System folder is blessed...it just doesn't work.
Can you not run the 9.2.x update from Classic?
