For what it's worth, I go for Panther anyway. If your reason for updating is Safari, you'll get a newer version with Panther than you can ever install with 10.2.8. I think it works better and with more sites. Moreover, Panther just works better in general.

As far as Panther, I can't spend the money right now. My wife says I have put too much money in this thing already :-)

I am thinking about deleting OS 9.  I never use it anymore.
