I recently got a great deal on a barely-used Blueberry 400mhz slot loading iMac. I would like to upgrade the hard drive. I am wondering if I can simply pull an existing drive from my G4 desktop Mac and pop it in. I would like to do that because it's cheaper than buying a new drive, and the existing drive already has the system software and all of my apps and data on it. I have other uses in mind for the G4.
I am aware of the need to install OS X on the first few gigs of a *new* drive in the iMac, but since the existing drive in the G4 was not installed in that manner, my question is this: will the iMac play nice with my existing drive as is, or will I need to reformat it, partion it, and re-install everything? I would hate to go to the effort of putting the drive in, only to have to re-do everything.
