I do have Norton installed on my mac, however, since i cant reboot with the norton cd (its got 10.1 on it, and it causes kernel panics when it tries to boot, so i have to boot into OS 9) would it be recommended to uninstall it? are most of the features of norton in techtool pro and diskwarrior?

Yes, and better. I stopped using Norton back in OS 8 days when Their Speed Disk started trashing Mac OS drives. Symantec has been slowly dropping support for Mac OS since around that time frame. In fact, I think they announced earlier this year that they were getting out of the Mac utilities business; don't know what the status of their "anti-virus" product is now.
