You are better off getting a new Mac. The prices are very cheap now.

The DVD drive refuses to release the CDs or DVDs. It sounds like it is ejecting them, but the most that that shows is a sliver that can't get grabbed. Very frustrating, it now has my OS 9.2 CD stuck in it.
My questions:
Is it economically viable to repair it? It has 512 Mb RAM and a 60 Gb HD.
The DVD replacement is around $80. Can I get it for less? Where?
Would the screen fail soon, as seen by the color shifts?
