I have an older Sony Mavica camera that uses 3.5" DOS formatted floppies. Yesterday I took some pictures using a disk I had reformatted from Mac to DOS using the disk utility in OSX 10.3. The disk mounts but when I tried to open the pictures in Preview I get an error message indicating that the format wasn't supported. Tried using GraphicConverter with the same result. I tried a another disk (also reformatted) with the same result. Previously recorded disks open OK. I finally went out and bought a box of new DOS formatted disks and they work ok.
Is there some difference in the ay the Mac Disk Utility formats disks? I have couple of hundred Mac formatted disks (new) around that I had hoped to use up for photos.
I've always just formatted the disks in the Mavica.
Can you copy the files over to the Mac? It's unclear whether the unsupported aspect is the disk, the file or the file format
