I just checked and found out why I haven't seen any improvement: the 
version is 1.3.9 and hasn't been updated since August 2003! I've 
never seen anything in Software Update so I've always thought that 
Apple Mail is updated as part of the OS. If the date is to be 
believed, then the last update was part of a Jaguar update, and Apple 
Mail has never been updated for Panther. That might also explain all 
the complaints on Apple's website about problems with the application 
after updating to 10.3.7.

So, does anyone have a version newer than 1.3.9?
