There is a further stage in this firmware problem, one which I believe
I am experiencing with this newly purchased Lime 400DV, where the
computer won't even start up properly, never mind show screwed up
video. I have dug around and come up with some good info
   http://frderi.spymac.net/imacresurrected/
but it still doesn't help.

- Background
I bought the iMac with Mac OS X installed but screwed up video,
and I knew immediately it was the firware problem.
I updated the firmware as usual (have done it a few times before)
but something didn't go 100% as it never rebooted properly after the
actual reboot-long beep-reboot.

- Actions taken
I have done all the resets, incl. Open Firmware "reset-all" and I have
followed the instructrions in, http://frderi.spymac.net/imacresurrected/
but the iMac still refuses to play. It starts up, the screen comes on
a little scew and very bright and then switches off after a few seconds.

- Firmware
I can start up using an external display according to the instructions
http://frderi.spymac.net/imacresurrected/ and the external video is
really crap as the text outlines, but readable and when I go to update
the firmware it reports that it is up to date/same version.

All I can guess is that it is either present but corrupted, or the iMac
"thinks" the video board is screwed as I read somewhere, and needs
to be reset, but I have tried some of the video cable unplugging
without success.

I'd rather not scrap this nice little Lime iMac...

Any ideas or tips ?

Larry
