I was thinking that I could rip the guts out of this iMac (including the CRT) and, when I get my Mac mini (probably in June), mount it inside the iMac along with a 14" LCD screen. I haven't gotten to the specifics in this e-mail, but generally, do you think this will work?
Sure, it would work for a while -- and then most likely overheat because the enclosure of the iMac doesn't offer enough ventilation for the mini. The mini wasn't designed for that type of limited air circulation.
It's a cute idea, and I'm not saying you couldn't make it work ... but frankly I don't think it's worth the bother. Buy a larger LCD monitor and enjoy the screen real estate.
