Hi folks,

been watching and learning.... thanks in advance.

I have an iMac DV G3 400(?) with 10gb hard drive. I'd like to replace it with a 40gb that I have from another drive that went bad (the bridge went bad, drive is fine, tried it another firewire enclosure)- I am just looking for reassurance that the DV will support a 40gb drive?
(Geez, for the effort, I'd throw an 80gb or 120gb in there- will it be alright?)
I found step by step instructions here: http://www.nelsonbc.ca/mactech_supprt_html/imac_hard_drive_replace/ imac_replace_hard_drive.html

I'm not squeamish about opening up the iMac and doing this, but can anyone give me some advice on best way to back up and transfer my data/operating files....

BTW, I mainly want the larger HD so I can comfortably install Tiger.

I currently have several 160gb esternal drives and a 160gb RAID hooked up to the iMac-
