Apple is doing what is best for Apple. IBM/International Basket Makers/Big Blue. Does what it is best for it as well. IBM has stated they are not able/willing to continue a growth relationship with Apple.
Apple, is going to the company which will give it the best bang for the buck, Intel. It is a corporate business decision. We can speculate all we want, however it is a done deal. As to compatibility with past operating systems; suspect Classic is as suggested on Death Row, and probably the current OSX line is next. "Intel Inside" may well take on a whole new meaning, both for the company Intel as well as for Apple. If we on this list wish to be able to use non-current Operating Systems, then we'd best purchase hardware now compatible with our decision. Keep in mind the operating system may well change in the future, the connecting software may have to change as well. In a world where producing new product means your business will succeed, the long term is simple.
