Perhaps the drive doesn't like the brand you are using. Try Maxell
or another bigger name brand and see if you can do it. I have never
had a coaster using Maxell DVD-Rs with my Superdrives.
Trying a different media is probably a good idea, likewise cleaning the drive.
But the error isn't a media or servo failure -- it's a comms error.
This could be more serious, a loose cable, interface failure, etc.
You might want to do some help reading and kbase searching.
