Trying a different media is probably a good idea, likewise cleaning
the drive.
But the error isn't a media or servo failure -- it's a comms error.
This could be more serious, a loose cable, interface failure, etc.
You might want to do some help reading and kbase searching.
i AM able to burn CD-R's just fine.
