Ah, Miche, I have a Bondi iMac that has a FireWire port.

I also have another tray-loader that has two Firewire ports.

You know what they say - the best way to get at the truth on the internet is to make an inaccurate statement: questions may or may not be answered, but statements will always be corrected. :-)

Fair point. There are upgrade options that I forgot about. On the OP's question, am I right in saying that they still can't be booted from an external drive?

Of course, the tray-loading Bondi was upgraded but the tray-loading G4 came from Apple with Firewire standard. Regarding the booting from an external drive, the answer is "no" for the Bondi iMac but "yes" for the G4 iMac.
