All the tray-loaders have USB 1 and no Firewire. If your external drive is USB, you should have no problem installing apps or copying data from CD, but AFAIK you can't boot these Macs from a USB drive.

Ah, Miche, I have a Bondi iMac that has a FireWire port.

I also have another tray-loader that has two Firewire ports.
