Well that sounds like the simplest solution. I
don't want to get in so deep as replacing a logic
board. A USB to Ethernet adapter sounds like
something I can handle - though finding one that
works with OS X might be tricky. If anyone knows
of a specific one that works, let me know.

google-ing (and froogle-ing) for '10/100Base-T ethernet card' - how
do I know if I'm getting one that's compatible and fits in the iMac?
