Eh, was all that necessary?? A 350 MHz slotloading iMac is by far old enough to boot into OS 9.x ... So why didn't you just install both 9 and X with the HD inside the iMac?

And why did you stop at an 80 Gb drive? I replaced a dead HD in a 400 MHz slotloader with a 160 Gb drive - cheap these days. The iMac can see "only" about 130 Gb of that, but who cares? Not much price difference between an 80 gigger and a 160 gigger

(I don't have any OS9 bootable machines, so I put the new drive in
the iMac, installed OS 9.2.2 & browsers & appleworks from some old
iMac disks, configured 9 to my liking, then pulled it out, put it in
a firewire housing, attached it to my 17" PB, installed Tiger etc.
and did all the updates. Put it back in the iMac and all worked great.)
