I was thinking the same, with an older, blue iMac 400 DV of a friend.
Replaced the original HD with a 160 G (of which the OS sees about 130
G), and was frightened about how hot these things get inside! They
don't have any fans, so have to depend on passive convection cooling.
Doesn't a DVD burner create a lot of heat, at least when burning at
high speeds?
Any experience about maybe placing a slow-going biggish fan on top of
it, sucking the air through? Must be a quite one... The new HD was much
less noisy than the old one. How hot to the touch should a HD feel
after hard use?
