Hi everybody.

My son has a download process, gbn283.exe, running with the message "Checking the downloaded files". It doesn't show up in either terminal or activity monitor.

Any ideas how we can get rid of it?

You don't want it anyway. It is a PC program. .exe is PC.

Not always. I've seen some installers that had Mac executables with a .exe ending. I believe it's done so either the installer or the development system have consistent file structures. I've only seen it a couple of times but it does happen.

most of the time it isnt though. if you want to end the download, and assuming you are using safari, you can go to Safari's Window menu, and select downloads. then click the x next to the download. although, you probably arent using safari, because i dont recall it ever checking downloaded files...

whatever app you are using, press option command escape to show a list of running apps, then you can force quit the problematic app.
