I think the command you are looking for is:
    sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/*

Test first to see if the stubborn files are there:
    ls -laR ~/.Trash

Of course, you didn't mention _why_ you couldn't delete the files...
The rm command above should at least complain if it can't delete
something.  Then try:
