Ignore the Comcast software. It's garbage. All that CD does is set your TCP/IP control panel to use DHCP then give you a Comcast-branded version of Exploder.
The web is full of pages that tell how to set the tcp and get on ethernet, which is nicely built into the iMac, but I can not get it to work at all.
Set up your Mac to use DHCP then shut it down. Hook it up to the modem. Power-cycle the modem.
