Hi, Listers!

My iMac (400 MHz, slot DVD player) finally died 2 days ago. :-(
Can I put the DVD player on a iMac 450 with CD-ROM slot player?
Will it work as a DVD player or just a CD player?
TIA and best regards.

Yes, you can remove the iMac 450's CD player and replace it with the one from the iMac 400. It's a simple swap that requires nothing more than standard Phillips screwdrivers (of varying sizes to fit the screws). It will work as a DVD player and as a CD player. However, you may have to reinstall the operating system in order to provide support for the DVD player through the proper extension (assuming you're still running OS 8.x or 9.x.
