There is an app, iChatUSBCam, that I found on versiontracker that will allow machines that don't meet the 600MHz G4 minimum use a firewire video camera with Apple's iChat AV (it worked on my 600MHz G3 iBook with a Sony handicam). It also allows you to use USB webcams, as the name implies. Having said that, I don't know if 233MHz will give enough horsepower to really be able to handle video chat well.
