Also, keep in mind that these books should be very cheap now, as people upgrade to newer systems, their older mac books aren't worth much to them - I built a pretty nice library for a friend a while back, and paid a few bucks per book - even with shipping and handling I did this a bit at a time for not too much money. These are things you will refer to again and again. I picked up the book he mentioned I believe, plus several other imac books - I have always liked the author Gene Steinberg also - who writes the "macnightowl" weekly e-newsletter - when emailed, he has personally e-mailed advice back quickly, much more than you expect from the author of a $20 book -
Wish I could help more, I am not too technical, but I did have a 233 bondi-blue baby that I would still have it I had not wiped the hard drive clean accidentally with Alladin's Spring Cleaning - I did have to have the logic board replaced under the aftermarket extended warranty though, it failed between years 3 and 4, after Apple's warranty would have expired by the way, Alibris dot com is a good site for used books, as well as many mac sites.
