Good: conserves electricity Bad: Macs, need to run Onyx occasionally to run the periodic maintenance scripts when it's awake. Disputed: It has long been contended that repeatedly starting up and shutting down put more stress on components, but that's never been conclusively proven; also modern circuitry and components are better able to handle things like this.(for example, drive platters are lighter, as are the rest of the drive mechanics, so less mechanical wear). Honestly, it's a good idea. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's iMac List, a group for those using G3, G4, G5, and Intel Core iMacs as well as Apple eMacs.
