When I purchased this Indigo 400MHz iMac G3 last week, it supposedly had Tiger installed on it (like the others I had purchased). Unlike the others, this one won't boot. I just get the flashing question mark. When I Option+Power, there are no visible operating systems to boot. I inserted, what I thought was, a bootable CD and try C+Power. Nothing. The CD drive and Hard Drive are both powered up cause I can hear them. I've cleared the PRAM and was able to boot Tiger from a backup on a USB drive. The Desktop shows the partitions on the USB drive, but not the internal hard drive or the inserted CD. When I get into System Profiler, it shows ATA on the left side of the window, but there nothing in the right side. No hard drive, no CD drive. Could this be that 'perhaps' the IDE connector has come loose while transporting this iMac? Remember, it supposedly had an OS on it. How do I get my CD out (without using the paperclip)? I'm ready to take this thing apart (it would be my first for a iMac G3). I just wanted someone else's opinion first. Thanks.
