Thanks for all your help. I followed the above list and Appleworks  
came up just fine.
However, I now can't get on the internet.  I followed suggested helps,  
but nothing works. I have verizon DSL with an external modem.The  
lights are lit on the modem, but I'm told there is no telephone  
connection.
Any suggestions?
