Well the new power supply didn't do it. The G4 just sits quietly and
just makes a faint clicking noise a few times or so til I turn it off.
 Must be the motherboard.

I found a webpage with instructions on what needs to be done to get
the board switched, now I just need to find a good motherboard... It
was suggested that the motherboard will only cost about $50.. plus
our labor..

or else consider that suggestion of a G5, presumeably with more speed
than the dual core 450Mhz and more capacity, but compatible with my
Adobe Premiere on OS9 and the Rage/AGP video stuff... I've seen some
incredible prices yet I'd still have to move the drives and hope the
software doesn't need a bunch of jiggery poakery with parameters
before I'd be back in business... so although it seemes like a more
reliable step initially, the more I think about it, the more I hope to
heaven that the good motherboard is easy to find and that it is what's
needed...

I wanted to just get back in the saddle but the longer I'm out, the
more the long term goals seem much more sensible with the idea that
the bigger step now will mean no more worries about upgrade hassles
soon b/c the upgrading will be accomplished. Is there some idea that
some dire changes will make upgrading needed real soon...??? Or can I
coast for another couple of years before dear apple pulls another plug
on their devoted users?

Hoping your crystal ball is loquaciously explicit and that you are in
the spirit for sharing news or recommendations.... ttyl
