For a few years here in Asia we have been fortunate to have the Epson L series printers - these have factory ink tanks, so you just refill from bottles.
They are becoming available around the rest of the world now - worth a looksee - I am on my first A4 (L355) (2 years to go through 1st set of inks) and third A3+ (L1800) (Commercial printing, not kind to it -) Ink works out very economical, and as you refill before empty, you never get air in the lines or printhead.
