Hi,

as far as I know, Access has a built in user called Admin.
The password is null (ie. empty).

As for Access being locked, what file system is this on?
I wrote an activity tracking application which was based on an NT server,
and several people were entering data into it at once.

I believe that Your problem is in the ODBC setup.
When You create an Access Data source in ODBC, if You click on the
"OPTIONS>>" button, You have two check boxes that You can click.
One is "Read Only", and the other is "Exclusive".
Check to make sure that Exclusive is not turned on.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Dadabase Access problems, can ay vbody help

Hi All,

Product: IMail Server 5.00
OS: Windows NT Server 4.0

I have set up a virtual server to use an ODBC Database
(Access .mdb file) and all seems to function except that
Access will not allow me to open the database as it
is locked for exclusive use buy user 'Admin'

Firstly I do not have a user 'Admin' on my system.

Secondly I wish to be able to access and modify the
contents of the database using Cold Fusion. Being locked
exclusively I cannot modify it at all. I have tried
removing the ODBC link in ODBC Manager and switching off
all the IMail services and the database is still locked

Can you suggest a way of IMail not using the database
exclusively so I can modify and add to it. What I want
to do is build further fields into the database for client
billing using the Cold Fusion interface, or have I missed
the point of DB access?

Thank you in advance
