Thats the kind of thing I want ......... and also user
lookup and links to other table with other info, all the
good stuff ....

Checked that, no, read only box was clear as was the
exclusive use, support suggested I may have a problem with
my ODBC driver and suggested if I was running version 4
revert back to version 3.5, I checked this and I am on 3.5
So, I deleted the lot and started again:
Add new virtual domain, in the wizard, checked the box
'External Database' all OK
Went to the user, 'add user' the wizard works fine but locks
up causeing a Dr Watson error with iadmin.exe everytime now
This is striking me as very flaky,
