I think someone had bombed his cache. MS DNS is still vulnerable to this
until SP5 though MS claimed a fix with 4. {A cheap Linux Box as a primary
DNS is a great thing}. He set the DNS entry in his mail server Control
Panel to point at one upstream and outbound mail began to flow again. No
entries in the System event log pointing to the usual DNS cache puke so it
could just be a cache dump or corrupt root servers/cache file. Anyway he is
flowing again and on the right course for recovery... (we talked off line so
I wanted to update the group on the status, we can all learn from the
finds...) Oh and by the way, Of course I did not take him up on his offer
to pay... could be me tomorrow! Nice to see all the effort and concern,
this list seems to have a "community" kind of quality about it! That's it I
am going to bed, I am starting to sound like a real nerd!
