Jim,

Since we have been evaluating IMail and Netscape Mail (both with full
purchased licenses), we have had *several* IMAP problems with IMail and
Outlook Express, Outlook, and Netscape Communicator (the client, not the
server) as well. Problems with IMail have included:

* "missing" mail messages -- which show up fine when using the WebMail
interface, but aren't displayed in any other IMAP client (yes we checked
EVERY setting and view definition in Outlook)
* corrupt folders -- where Outlook declares that it can not sync with the
server. We get this same message on 5 out of 5 clients on 5 different
machines.
* server "hangs" -- which cause client hangs
* WebMail service "hangs" every couple of days

Interestingly enough, we are running the Netscape IMAP server in parallel,
and have had none of these problems. We have had other non-related problems
with the Netscape server which is why we're continuing the evaluation of
both.

Just as interesting -- after applying the 5.06 patch as soon as it came
out -- all of the aforementioned IMail problems have completely disappeared!
Of course this may also had something to do with the fact that the update
required a reboot of the machine.

If it is of any use, the machine itself is a quad-processor NT Server, 512MB
RAM with SP5. Check back in a week or so for the final verdict.

SO. Has anyone seen a problem with outlook express and imap? I have sent
several messages to this list about the particular problem that I am
experiencing and have heard no reply.

Any response would be appreciated.

Jim
